Roots & Legacy Suzi Quatro

In the following excerpt from “She’s A Rebel” (p181, Diverse Directions), author Gillian Gaar made note of the move some women performers made in the early 70’s toward becoming instrumentalists.

For my part, I extend on this by acknowledging her as catalyst and innovator. Like the MC5 and The Stooges, Quatro hails from Detroit. And just as they have, deserves to be acknowledged for her then radical departure in image and style, pioneering the ground for future women in rock n’ roll (most notably Joan Jett).
